We are our way now to Westport which is funnily enough on the West coast. The coastline is very rugged and the hills inland are covered in Rain forest. This side of the island has very high rainfall and is living up to its reputation.
We don all our wet weather gear at Cape Foulwind and Tauranga bay to take a short walk on the coastal path to see the seal colony. We saw our first White fronted Terns here.
We carried on down this coast getting some great views of the stormy seas and find an overnight stop on the estuary at Fox river near Tiromoana.
