Stewart and Ulva Island

Off to Bluff again to catch the ferry to Stewart Island. This is a far south as we can get and far from the UK as can be except the pole.
We arrive in Oban, the only settlement on Stewart Island and catch a water taxi to Ulva Island in the Patterson inlet.

Very unique tickets for the water taxi written on leaves and re useable.
Green in every sense of the word.

This is a predator free place for indigenous birds.

Unfortunately we did not see any Kiwi but these may be their footprints, who knows.?

We saw plenty of Robins, Yellow heads and Yellow and Red Crowned Parakeets.

Saddlebacks and a Kaka.

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful place.
Once back on the mainland we headed through Riverton to stop the night at Colac Bay. We parked close to the beach right next to the Tsunami warning sign.
