Milford Sound

We headed quickly south through the Haast highway. We could not see a thing as the rain poured down. Then the roof of the Camper started leaking. We fast tracked to Queenstown for repair and then spent the night on the shores of Lake Hayes.

Next morning we woke to blue skies and started our journey to Milford sound. The forecast was for good weather in the afternoon.

We had breakfast overlooking Lake Wakatipu with the Remarkables on our left and the Eyre mountains on our right with Mount Aspiring N.P. in the distance.

On down to Lumsden and then on the 94 to Te Anau through some showers.

Through the Homer tunnel

And on to Milford Sound

Where we joined our boat for the afternoon cruise in beautiful weather.

With the early morning rain all the falls were in full flow.

And we were treated to a glass of water straight from the fall.

We had rainbows in the spray.
And saw a crested Penguin although no picture unfortunately.

With another unforgettable day behind us we headed back along the beautiful 941 road stopping to see the Chasm and stayed the night at the D.O.C site at Cascade Creek.
