Laksfossen falls

The weather had cleared the next morning and our next stop along the E06 was Laksfossen falls.  We saw our first Reindeer on route.

We were impressed with the volume of water going over the falls.  The visitor centre had done its best to close off all the views unless you paid to visit their studio – this did not stop us, we managed to find good views without paying.

Carrying on we took the fv 76 back to the coastal route, by now the weather had closed in again and our visit to Torghatten had to be cut short, we only glimpsed the hole in the mountain through a very wet cloud.  The car park was expensive to stay over so we continued through the rain to a delightful spot on the coast near Vennesund.

Early next morning we drove down to the dock and took the short ferry over to Holm.  It was a beautiful day so we decided to take an excursion to the Vikna islands to see if we could spot any new sea birds.  Took a delightful round trip on this quiet corner and managed to spot a common tern and a pair of shags.

The little lakes on the islands were full of water lilies just coming out in bud and everywhere looked idyllic.

Taking the 776 away from the coast

we found another quiet overnight stop up in the mountains just after another fantastic waterfall.

Back to the E06 and after an abortive visit to Fiskumfossen (another tourist trap – Rob refused to pay the silly admission charge to see a waterfall which they had completely hidden behind high ugly buildings), we moved south to Snasvatnet.  We drove around the east side of the lake and Sarah spotted a couple of black woodpeckers
