Geieranger and the Eagle road

Next day we continued onto Geirangerfjorden and climbed up the other side ...more hairpins. The fuel gauge is on red and there are no garages to be seen.

Rob starts driving conservatively, We freewheel to Grov.  The place is filled with youngsters in their ski outfits ready to hit the slopes at the summer ski centre.

We climb back out of Grov, having refuelled, and back to the turning for The Old Strynefjell Road.  This road is the original route over the mountain instead of the new way ie through the mountain.  It’s state of repair leaves a little to be desired varying from deep pot holed tarmac to mud track, and did I mention hairpins and single track with only a few passing places.  As Brucie would say, ‘Good Game, Good Game.  Nevertheless a beautiful route not to be missed, but next time in a 4x4.

We carried on down the valley and into the Ottadalen valley.  Stopping the night on a picnic spot near Billingen.
