We turn back southwards towards Plovdiv. This is a big city and after failing to find somewhere to park the van decide to continue onto Bachkovo Monastry. The place was being extensively worked on but they still allowed us to wander around the church and grounds. The monastery was founded in 1083 but most of the current buildings date from the 17thC.
