Uluru and Kata Tjuta

We flew into Uluru and stayed for two nights at the Desert Springs complex.  We were very fortunate to see the area in full bloom due to recent heavy rain.  There were flowers in bloom that had been dormant for ten years.  Uluru is very impressive being 348m above the surrounding desert and the iron in the rock really does made it glow red at sunset and dawn.  Whilst we were there we took an early morning walk in the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) these were also very impressive and the fields of flowers surrounding them were delightful, not at all what we expected.  The temperature was very low and Rob nearly froze to death in his shorts!  To finish off our stay we had a meal outside under the stars after watching the sunset at Uluru, very romantic.
