Lake Vouliagmeni and Perachora

Sadly leaving our camper stop we head towards Delphi
On route we to the Cape of Melangavi passing the very pretty Lake of Vouliagmeni where we stop for a coffee.

We then go right to the tip of the Cape to see the Heraion of Perachora which is an 8th c BC religious centre.

Not much remains here but  there is a large cistern and a few ruined temples.

It is all set in a very beautiful cove with crystal clear water.

Two ships heading to the Corinth canal.

A walk up to the lighthouse with the views completes our visit.

The entrance to the Canal from over ten kilometres away.

We return to the lake for a quick dip before driving around the interesting  coastal road along past Schinou

At times the road almost disappeared.

By the time we pull away from the coast towards Thebes a thunder storm breaks out with rain and hailstones and a great rainbow near Arachove.

We arrive in Delphi at Camping Apollon in time for lunch outside and later had dinner in the restaurant.

Our beautiful view.
