The Cape

We arrived at the Cape in lovely sunny weather and moved into our beautiful house overlooking the bay at Simonstown.
Our first trip was to see the Penguins down on the beach. They return each year to this one bay and seem not to be bothered about the constant flow of tourists.
There were some young African dancers in the street as we returned to the car. They were very enthusiastic and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

We drove down to the Cape of Good hope and walked over the ridge to the café for lunch. A good walk in lovely weather.

What are you doing here ?

Our next day looked good for a trip up Table mountain. We were informed that it was sometimes not easy to get a clear day so off we went. The queue for the cable car took about an hour or mare but it was well worth the wait. The trip up is almost vertical and the views from the top are really wonderful. There are apparently more species of plant life up there than in the whole of the UK. We will take their word for that.

Our last day took us to Kirstenbosch Gardens and a more beautiful setting cannot be imagined. We were told by locals that it was not very colourful at this time of year but you make up your mind. Apparently in spring and summer it is amazing. We thought it was today.
