We head back towards Te Kuiti and on the way visit the Waitomo caves which are renowned for their glow worms. We spent a brilliant day here in the cave systems.
Firstly we visited the glow worm cave by boat on the underground river. We were astounded by the number of glow worms and the guide was very informative.
In the afternoon we visited the Ruakari cave system which you enter by via a spiral ramp as the natural entrance is sacred to the Maori..
We had our photo taken in front of Golum's pool from the film Lord of the Rings.
