We awoke to a lovely view of the Southern Alps early this morning and were surprised by a helicopter landing to collect some Hunters and fly them into the mountains.
We headed up to Franz Joseph but the weather was not good enough for our flying trip so we walked up to the base of the Glacier and just got back before the rain came down.
It was amazing to see how much the Glacier had retreated in the last ten years.
Global Warming ?
Deciding to head south we backtracked to the Okarito Lagoon and saw our first Dottrell on the beach there and another White Heron, this time a bit closer.
