Oamuru, Waitaki river and Lake Pukaki.

We were woken at 2.30 am by someone banging on our door, shouting that we must move immediately. This was a surprise as it was the man who showed us where to park the night before.
He hurriedly explained that there had been a massive Earthquake in Kaikoura and they were expecting a Tsunami.
He moved us up to his house at the top of the hill and we parked in his garden for the night.
Gladly the Tsunami did not happen but it was a bit scary.
We left the next morning, thanking our host and headed towards Oamuru, a very elegant town built with Oamuru limestone.

We took a walk along Harbour street with its old Grain warehouses and stores.
Rob bought himself a travel Guitar as he was missing his music.

Heading back west along the Waitaki river we visited  the Takiroa Maori rock art near Dunoon.

All in very soft rock under a ledge, not the place to stay long.

We headed through Twizel to Lake Pukaki and stopped the nigh on its shores.
