Travelled on Northwards to Karamea and then drove as far as the road went terminating at the start of the Heapy track.
This track is a walkway that links Karamea to the Abel Tasman park in the top Northwest corner of the South Island, a distance of 79 kilometres There are no other roads in this region.
We donned our walking boots and sampled a sixteen kilometre walk along this beautiful track that takes in some stunning coastal scenery as well as virgin rain forest.
This was a beautiful day.
From here have to backtrack to Westport but the scenery still looks impressive.
