Monfrague revisited.

Today we set off to revisit Montfrague Campsite.  From Caceres we drove over the Tagus river , and had some lovely views of the snow capped Sierra Gredos mountains which rise to over 2000 metres.

Found a lovely spot to set up camp, our home for the next six days and got the scooter out.

After lunch we took a scooter ride through Malpartida de Plasencia and headed for the hills.  Beautiful countryside here.

We passed a lovely lake Embalse las Covachillas, signposted walk here which will do another day, and then onto Garguera de la Vera.

This area is parallel to the Jerte Valley, which we visited many years ago, both are renowned for cherries.  The blossom today is just coming out.

The next village up the valley is Barrado, the terraced hillside is full of cherry trees.

We climbed up to the top of this valley and then turned right to cross over to the next valley over.

Stopping to take a few photos at the pretty Cascada la Desespera, we started our descent down to Pasaron de la Vera.

Along the lanes to Tejeda de Tietar and then back to the campsite for a well earned drink in the sunshine.
