We are off today back to Pylos to visit the Niokastro.
Again this is an Ottoman /Venetian castle which has been repaired in the 1800's by the French.
It overlooks the bay of Navarino which was the location of a major Naval battle during the war of independence in 1827.
In side the castle there are two museums, one of underwater archaeology and the other a general museum.
Within the site there is also the church of Sotiras a former Mosque.
We climbed up onto the ramparts to get some great views of the bay.
We finished our trip with a coffee in the local bar at the harbour.
