Genoa to Castellane via the Col de Vence nr Nice

An overnight ferry from Porto Torres to Genoa this time. We find a lovely route over quite a small pass to reach Castellane.

Santa Christina Nuraghi and the Holy well

For our last tip on Sardinia we visit a very historical site which has a Nuraghi as well as a scared well and a 13th Century christian village which is still used to this day as a pilgrimage site.

Cabras and Tharros

We cross the island east to west for the last time. Our final base here in Sardinia is Cabras which has another roman archaeological site called Tharros.

As you walk up to the site you pass the ancient church of San Giovani, you can also get to see a typical reed house here as well as the remains of a grand roman city. As we leave we spot a flock of bee-eaters, summer must be one its way.

SS125 to Cala Gonone

Another stunning bike ride through a pass in the mountains to reach Cala Gonone.

Here we put on our walking boots and take the path along the coast to Cala di Luna. After a long cooling drink on the beach we head back to Cala Gonone by boat past the Blue Marino caves. Another glorious day.

Gennargentu National Park

The scooter is working really hard on this trip, again we ride into the mountains just inland from the coast. Our first port of call is Villa Grande from here you get a stunning vista towards the coast at Tortoli.

Further inland the scenery gets more and more impressive as the mountains get grander and the roads get smaller. This is a really wild part of Sardinia, you also expect to see wagons and horses coming towards you not the odd car. Up high on the moor there are wild ponies.

As we head homewards on our circular tour we pass through Seui which has one village just below it that has been abandoned.

Tortoli Lido

After dropping mum at the airport ad handing back the hiire car we head up the east coast to Tortoli Liido and our campsite on the beach called Cigno Bianco
