Trafalgar to Greece

We are off.
Up to Arcos de la Frontera on to the A384 past our favourite places, Olvera and Antequera.
Onto the motorway towards Granada stopping for lunch overlooking the Sierra Nevada.
On reaching Baza we exit the motorway onto the A 334 to Tijola and up to the small village of Luca to visit our friends Gary and Bren.
Back on the Motorway heading to Lorca and Murcia then onto the N344 past Jumilla. At Yecia we go onto the RM 426 to Almanza and then the N330 through the pretty National reserve of Muela de Cortes. At Litiel we take a back road through the forest up to Benageber to a high level camper stop just short of the Embalse. This area is quite stunning and is part of the Sierra de Mira.

After a very quiet night we set off northeast along the CV 35 onto the A1514 to Mora de Rubielos.
Travelling through the Sierra de Gudar we reach the A 226 which winds its way up to Alcaniz.
We find our campsite for the night just north of Caspe on the Embalse.
All this area well worth further exploration at a future date when we have more time.
After a relaxing night and day we to head in the late afternoon to our Ferry at Barcelona via Lleida and Igualada.

After a slight delay we join our ferry for an overnight voyage over calm waters. We arrive at Civitavecchia just north of Rome at 11.00 pm and end up in a local car park at Ladispoli for the night.
Next morning we experience the shock of the Italian road system and huge increase in volume and speed of traffic. The local drivers and the state of the roads, Potholes etc, make this a not too pleasant journey around the suburb's of Rome.
Things start to improve as we head into the mountains through Tivoili where Rob assured me there were some outstanding gardens. We were trying to get to our destination and stopping in the Campervan was not easy so this is another place to revisit.
Our site for the night, at Opi called Il Vecchio Mulino is well into the d'Abruzzo national park, a lovely area for walking and discovering the old hilltop villages.

We awake the next morning to a ground Frost, luckily we have good heating.
We quickly head back down to the Adriatic coastline at Manfredonia for the next night.

Next day we head further south to Bisceglie to camping La Batteria and spend two days relaxing overlooking the sea.

On the 31st we drive to Brindisi to catch our ferry to Greece.
